| The meeting was called to order by Mr. Granda at 8:01 am. |

| All members were in attendance with the exception of Mr. Dawar. Mr. Dawar arrived at 8:03 am. |

| Mr. Eliseo led the flag salute. |

Persons wishing to address the governing board on any item may do so at this time. A maximum of 20 minutes total is set aside for persons wishing to address the Board, with a maximum of 3 minutes per person. If you wish to address the Board, please fill out a request form provided on the table near the entrance, and submit it to the Clerk of the Board prior to the meeting. Speakers are requested to state their name and to address comments to the Board of Trustees. The Board is governed by the Brown Act and may briefly respond to public comments but take no action except on items scheduled on the agenda.

| Bernice Bailey requested the Board not take action on hiring a Superintendent today, and wait until after elections in November, as many in the community have asked. She stated the board made a terrible mistake a couple of months ago when they let Mr. Sutton go, and it's not too late to fix this wrong. "It is not too late to listen to the overwhelming requests of your constituents, our community, our parents, our teachers, and our students. Those are the people you were elected to represent. All you have to do is bring back Mark Sutton and get our district back on track. Mark Sutton has the leadership skills and classroom experience that is needed to be an effective Superintendent. If you choose to not listen to your community again, I only hope you will at least hire a highly qualified candidate. Someone with Superintendent experience, someone with classroom experience, someone that has served a district of our size. You will be held accountable in November for any decision you make today. Please remember our students and put them first." |

| Mr. Granda thanked Mr. Kelejian and the HR department for their work in this process. The entire Board echoed his thanks. |

| The next regular board meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. for Closed Session and 7:00 p.m. for Public Session in the Central High School-East Campus Performing Arts Center. |
